Faith and Work

It’s one thing to be a person who lives out your faith. For many that means attending church services, giving, abiding by the ten commandments and living a life based on core biblical values. But it’s easy to put our faith in a box and close the lid when we go to work. It just doesn’t seem to belong there – at least that’s what the world would have you believe.

What I’ve discovered is that it’s impossible to live a truly authentic Christian life without including my faith in every aspect of my life. Faith is just as critical at work as it is on Sundays and in our prayer time with family.

You might be in a couple of places regarding living out your faith at work. You may not understand why you’d want to. Or you may want to live more authentically at work and include your faith, but you’re not really sure how to do it and be appropriate.

The fact is, expressing your faith at work does not necessarily mean evangelizing. What it means is doing your work and ALL of life with God – seeking God for direction, praying about decisions, and conducting all of your activities in ways that please God. Living out your faith at work has more to do with the way in which you do your work – with excellence as working for God – and the way you treat people – with love, grace and compassion.
